Crafty Like a Fox

I've really been getting into a lot of crafts, DIY and upcycling lately. It's fun, and a nice way to be creative and get a good use out of materials we might usually toss. And it's great to change items that might need a more updated look! So...here goes..
This is a used tin can. Clean, dry, cut a piece of wrapping paper to size and glue it on. Makes a great pen holder. I'm also going to make one for my makeup brushes and one for James' toiletries. For those, I think paint would be better because of the moisture.
I found these frames from IKEA for such a bargain. But I didn't like the unfinished wood look.
A can of spray paint fixed that!
 My new colored frames
Now up on the wall with photos of loved ones! I really love this monochromatic look. And because this is just a temporary place, and we're not painting, we need to make the walls pop somehow!

On a recent walk through our neighborhood last weekend I marveled at all the creatures that live a mere 100 or so yards away from our townhouse. The strange thing is we live in a typical, suburban-house-on-top-of-each-other, kind of neighborhood, yet, these are the animals we're privy to seeing on a daily basis. Being a former equestrian and having a zoo of animals as a kid, I'm all for it! The hunter/jumper stable that's about a quarter mile from our home really makes me homesick, or should I say... horsesick. But I adore the idea that nestled in the middle of thousands of homes are small, independent farms. Some with only produce, some with horses and one with goats and chickens!

Paleo BBQ

Husband and I by NO means eat 100% Paleo, maybe more like 75%, but we try our best. Recently I came across three great recipes for a Paleo cookout. And since the weather is getting warmer we decided to try them out!
Veggies for kabobs
Mixed salad with avocado lime dressing
 Balsamic glazed chicken and kabobs
Fresh strawberries for dessert!

The previous recipes can be found at this link, and I would suggest all of them! I really had to share these, as everything was so yummy!
Enjoy this warm weather and get to grilling!

Relaxing Saturday...

Being that we had a little "too" much fun last night at husband's hail and bail, followed by cocktails at our fav, Schwarz Weiss, we were not feeling so hot this morning. Husband made us a great breakfast and we slowly got ourselves ready. We had lunch at our favorite, local gyro place. The Greeks are so welcoming and know James by name since he's there so often! Nothing better than fresh lamb in a delicious pita when you're hungover! We ran our errands, and shopped for our new niece and now we're about to stay in and watch movies has a family!
Happy Saturday night!

We're So Excited...

We can't contain our excitement! We just found we're going to OFFICIALLY be an aunt and uncle! James' brother, Joel, and his girlfriend, Hillary, are expecting a little girl the end of July!Though we are a pseudo aunt and uncle to our friend's children, this makes it oh so real! I'm heading out soon to start the shopping/spoiling process for this little one!
Congrats again, Joel and Hillary!

Sorry we've been tardy!

I just noticed that it's now March 1st and I haven't posted for a couple weeks. What can I say, we've been busy. The weather is getting nicer and we can't stay indoors for too long! Loving the birds chirping and trees blooming!
I have just been finishing my graduate school applications and fingers crossed I'll be starting this fall! James just started a new job Monday and is still feeling it out to see if he likes it. That's the thing with the Navy, you never have the same job for too long!
As a family we just started training for the Dog Jog 5k, which happens in July. And I'm realizing that some of us (cough, cough...) need more training than others. But I must say, I love being active as a family!
More to come soon! Now everyone get out there and enjoy the sun!
